VINEYARD HAVEN – The Steamship Authority’s newest vessel has returned to service after experiencing mechanical problems in recent weeks.
The M/V Woods Hole will run on the boat line’s Nantucket route in advance of returning to its regular Martha’s Vineyard runs Thursday. It started operating again on Tuesday.
The 12-hour per day Nantucket route will allow technicians to be on board for full two days of service, a move that would not have been possible on the 18-hour per day Vineyard route, according to the Steamship Authority.
The vessel cleared a Coast Guard inspection on Monday. It has dealt with propeller problems twice in the last month.
