Steamship Authority Holding First Student Art Contest

BB_Nantucket_SteamshipAuthority_Summer2015WOODS HOLE – Students in grades K-12 have a chance to have their artwork featured in the 2017 Steamship Authority calendar.

The Steamship Authority is holding its first art contest that is open to students in its constituent communities of Barnstable, Falmouth, Martha’s Vineyard, Nantucket, Fairhaven and New Bedford.

Twelve winners will be chosen to have their work showcased in the calendar, displayed on the Authority’s website and aboard ferries.

The theme of the contest is “Sail into Imagination.”

Drawings, paintings and sketches will be accepted and can include oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel, pen, pencil and ink. Photographs, photocopies, 3-D designs or traced images will be disqualified.

The entries must illustrate the contest theme and include a ferry, along with elements of seaside life and town landmarks.

Each student may submit up to three entries, but only one may win.

Winners will be awarded Steamship Authority gift certificates and an invitation to the art unveiling reception.

The deadline to apply is May, 31st.
