WOODS HOLE – The Steamship Authority’s governing board unanimously approved the hire of a new Treasurer and Comptroller last week.
Gerard Murphy comes to the Authority from New Hampshire, where he is serving as the Granite State’s Comptroller. He previously worked as a Financial Analyst for the New Hampshire Department of Transportation, a Budget Officer for the New Hampshire State Legislature, and as the Budget Director for former Governor and current U.S. Senator Maggie Hassen.
Murphy takes over for Bob Davis, who will take over as the Steamship Authority’s new General Manager on July 1. Current GM Wayne Lamson is retiring at the end of June after more than 13 years on the job.
“We welcome Gerard to the Steamship Authority,” said Lamson. “His wealth of experience in managing and overseeing budgets in New Hampshire and New York City and his overall knowledge of governmental accounting standards is impressive.”
