FALMOUTH – The Steamship Authority is mourning the death of one of their own.

Jack Hayes, who had spent the last 10 years working as a shuttle driver for the ferry service, died suddenly Sunday afternoon.

Hayes was on the job and was picking up passengers at the Palmer Avenue parking lot around 3:30 p.m. when he died. The bus was stationary at the time.

“Jack was a consummate professional, courteous and kind. To lose such a valuable member of our team is difficult,” said Robert Davis, the General Manager of the Steamship Authority. “Our thoughts and sincerest sympathies are with his wife and two children at this time.”
