‘Stop the Bleed’ Training Course to be Held in Yarmouth

SOUTH YARMOUTH – A course designed to help the general public learn how to improve the survivability of victims in mass-casualty incidents will be held this month in Yarmouth.

Cape Cod CPR & First Aid offers a free 90 minute “Stop the Bleed” training course on March 31 at 3 p.m. at its Commercial Street Facility in South Yarmouth.

Launched in October 2015 by the White House, “Stop the Bleed” is a national grassroots effort to encourage bystanders to become trained, equipped and empowered to help in mass-casualty emergencies before professionals arrive.

Bystanders are always the first on scene and a person who is bleeding can die from blood loss within five minutes.

The key to saving lives is providing those first on the scene with the skills and basic tools needed to stop uncontrolled bleeding in an emergency situation.
