CHATHAM – A 7-foot great white shark that was stranded off South Beach in Chatham and pulled back into the water last year, returned to the area recently.

The shark, named Jamison by researchers, was down in South Carolina earlier this year and was found off Monomoy on June 29.

Jamison was rescued by researchers on July 13, 2015 by the Chatham Harbormaster’s office and Dr. Greg Skomal with the Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries.

A rope was tied around the shark before researchers eventually towed the shark back into the open ocean.
