Student Marine Art on Display at Salt Pond Visitor Center

EASTHAM – An exhibition of student artwork that captures the diversity of species found in Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary will be on display throughout March at the Cape Cod National Seashore’s Salt Pond Visitor Center.

The works from the 2017 Marine Art Contest, sponsored by Massachusetts Marine Educators, were created by students from schools across the state, along with some entries from outside of Massachusetts.

Several students from Cape Cod and the Islands are represented in the exhibit from schools that include Cape Cod Lighthouse Charter School, Eddy Elementary School, Sandwich STEM Academy, Falmouth High School and Nasuet Regional High School.

The show includes winners and honorable mention recipients from the five contest categories – high school, middle school, elementary school, scientific illustration and computer graphics.

The 2018 Marine Art Contest is already underway with a submission deadline of April 1.

Rules for the contest can be found at the Massachusetts Marine Educators website at www.ma-marine-ed.org.
