Summer Kick-off Party to Celebrate Two Years of OpenCape broadband

computer screenBARNSTABLE – This month marks two years since CapeNet began connecting southeastern Massachusetts and the Cape with an all-fiber-optic OpenCape broadband network.

CapeNet and OpenCape will be holding a special summer kick-off party this afternoon at the Open Cape offices on Main Street in Barnstable from 3 to 5 p.m.

The all-fiber-optic broadband network spans 470 miles through southeastern Massachusetts and Cape Cod with connections in Boston, Brockton and Providence.

Institutions that utilize the OpenCape network to enhance communications, operations and education include the Cape Cod Regional Transit Authority, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, Massachusetts Maritime Academy, Cape Cod town governments and many Cape Cod public schools and libraries.
