Plymouth’s Thanksgiving Parade Tops in Region

plmouth parade03PLYMOUTH – Billed as America’s only historically accurate chronological parade, America’s Hometown Thanksgiving is one of the premier events in the region.

Olly deMacedo, Executive Director of America’s Hometown Thanksgiving, explains why he is involved in the event and gives all the details for those planning to attend:

The festivities on Saturday, November 22 are the following:

Opening Ceremonies are at DCR Pilgrim Memorial Park, beginning at 10:30 a.m. The parade steps off-Benny’s Plaza on Court Street at 11:00 a.m.

plymouth parade01The Saturday morning Celebration festivities begin at 10:30 am on the Plymouth Massachusetts historic waterfront with an opening ceremony featuring a variety of entertainment.

In showing the preservation of America’s history through the years, beginning with the Pilgrim era to the 21st century, the parade focuses on the area’s cultural heritage.

The parade features decorated floats, nationally recognized Drum and Bugle Corps, re-enactment units from every period of American history and military marching units.

plymouth parade02Music, historical reenactments, vintage American cars and handmade floats are all part of the parade.

The following is a list of all the events taking place the weekend of November 21 to 25 in Plymouth.

Friday, November 21:

  • Tours of the Historic Waterfront: 2-4pm
  • NEW: Illuminate 2014 – DCR Pilgrim Memorial Park: 4-5pm
  • Thanksgiving Street Festival, Court Street: 5-7pm
  • Taste Of New England VIP Reception, Memorial Hall: 5-6:30pm (invitation only)
  • The PIDC Patriotic COncert – Performances by American Originals and Tops in Blue: 7-10pm (doors open at 6pm for general seating)

Saturday, November 22
