HYANNIS – Four Cape Cod nonprofits are banding together on the fundraising campaign Making Ends Meet. All you need to do to help is eat at your favorite restaurant and make a donation.
With the support of 22 local restaurants, Community Action Committee of Cape Cod & Islands, The Community Development Partnership, The Family Pantry of Cape Cod and WE CAN are, for the second year, “Making Ends Meet.”
The two-month campaign will raise money for the work that the four organizations do and—equally important—raise awareness about the financial and other challenges so many Cape Codders face living year round in a seasonal economy.
Guests at participating restaurants will receive a “Making Ends Meet” request envelope in the check presentation folder or find a contributions “can” when they settle up at the register.
“Our neighbors and visitors on the Lower Cape are a key part of the success of my restaurants,” said Devon Ruesch, Owner of Devon’s and Devon’s Deep Sea Dive, both in Provincetown. “I know how vital these four organizations are in helping year-rounders in our community and we are glad to have this opportunity to reach out to our guests for their financial support.”
“Supporting this effort and the four community organizations is a logical extension of our community caring,” said Richard Costello, Owner, Chatham Squire. “Keep it local – it’s better for all of us.”
“The CDP, along with the Community Action Committee of Cape Cod & Islands, The Family Pantry of Cape Cod, and WE CAN, provides a range of services and support to about 20,000 Cape Codders each year,” said Jay Coburn, Executive Director, Community Development Partnership. “As local businesses, our restaurant partners know better than most the challenges of our seasonal economy. That’s why they’ve joined with us to ensure that the safety net is maintained for those who need help “making ends meet.”
