WOODS HOLE – The Steamship Authority has come to an agreement with a national non profit to bring sunscreen dispensers to its terminals in Hyannis, Woods Hole and the Islands.
IMPACT Melanoma is a national non-profit organization dedicated to working to reduce the incidence of Melanoma, is installing automatic sunscreen dispensing units at the five ferry terminals operated by the Steamship Authority. The dispensers will be available to customers and employees.
“IMPACT is delighted that the Steamship Authority has hopped on board with us in our quest to spread awareness of the imperative need for proactive skincare measures,” said Laurie Seavey, IMPACT’s Practice Safe Skin Manager.
“I’m so excited to be able to apply sunscreen prior to jumping on a ferry and sailing off into the sunset! This is a great community partnership that I’m ecstatic about on a personal and professional level.”
The Steamship Authority is acquiring five automatic sunscreen dispensers (look for the bright yellow units throughout the port), accompanied by sun safety posters, which will be available at all of their terminals by mid-May 2019.
“We are pleased to provide complimentary sunscreen for our employees and customers in the fight against skin cancer,” said Steamship Authority Director of Marketing Kimberlee McHugh. “With these sunscreen dispensers at our terminal locations in Woods Hole, Hyannis, Nantucket, Vineyard Haven and Oak Bluffs, we encourage everyone to protect their skin while traveling on board our ferries or visiting Cape Cod or the islands of Martha’s Vineyard or Nantucket.”
