Sunset Trips to Sandy Neck Offered for Local Artists

HYANNIS – The Town of Barnstable has teamed up with the Cape Cod Art Center to offer a series of sunset trips out to the House at the Halfway Point at Sandy Neck Beach.

The goal is to get local artists out to the remote section of the beach to provide them an opportunity for artistic inspiration. Organizers describe the trips as a “unique opportunity to see a beautiful and remote part of the Cape.”

The program is designed for painters, photographers, musicans, and writers looking for a quiet place to create.

A beach ranger will provide transport for the 3.5 mile trip through the dunes to the halfway point house.

The trips are scheduled for April, May, September, and October. The cost is $70 per trip for members and $95 for non-members.

The scheduled dates are April 8, May 6, September 7, September 23, October 5, and October 21. The trip begins at 2 p.m. and ends after sunset.

Applications are available online at ArtsBarnstable.com or at CapeCodArtCenter.com.

Organizers are inviting artists in all disciplines to apply.
