SANDWICH – A former Sandwich Selectman has helped develop a website in an effort to inform the public about the proposed Cape Cod Sports Complex and Convention and gather support for the project.

The website, Sandwichgoldentriangle.com, was launched in August and features more information on the plans that include two hotels, a field house, a gymnasium, seven outdoor fields, two hockey rinks and a pool.

James Pierce said project supporters have two goals for the website.

“To get as much accurate information about the project out there as we possibly can, and to encourage people to attend the town meeting that is scheduled for November 16,” said Pierce.

The development is on 56 acres of town-owned land that is also known as the Golden Triangle.

The $200 million project is currently under review by the Cape Cod Commission.

It is expected to generate around $2 million per year in taxes.

The website also features answers to frequently asked questions about the development, including concerns residents may have.

Pierce said supporters know what one of the big issues is.

“There is a worry about traffic,” said Pierce. “That’s why we have the Cape Cod Commission to make sure that the road structure, if it’s not capable of bearing it now, which it’s not, will be modified and will be modified at the expense of the developer.”
