Supreme Judicial Court to Hold Special New Bedford Session

GavelNEW BEDFORD, Mass. (AP) — The Supreme Judicial Court will hear oral arguments in four cases during a special sitting in New Bedford.

The special sitting is designed to give students and residents of the local community an opportunity to view the work of the state’s highest court outside of Boston, where cases are normally heard.

The special sitting will be held Wednesday in the New Bedford Superior Courthouse.

The seven justices of the court hear appeals on a broad range of criminal and civil cases from September through May.

Single justice sessions are held each week throughout the year on certain motions pertaining to cases on trial or on appeal, bail reviews and a variety of other proceedings.
