OFF THE COAST OF OCEAN CITY, Maryland – The T.S. Kennedy continues to move south after it departed Buzzards Bay over the weekend.
600 cadets from the Massachusetts Maritime Academy are onboard the vessel for the annual Sea Term. The two-month voyage allows students to put into practice what they have been learning at the academy from one semester to three and ½ years.
During the trip cadets will rotate through class and laboratory training, handle ship operations and perform maintenance and emergency drills.
The Kennedy was tracked traveling south of Ocean City, Maryland earlier this week.
Ports of call for this year’s voyage include Barbados, Jamaica, Colombia, Tampa. Cadets will also take part of a humanitarian aid drop in Haiti.
Cadets are navigating the Kennedy to Bridgetown, Barbados, the first stop on this year’s voyage.
The T.S. Kennedy is scheduled to return to Buzzards Bay on February 25.
