Tall Ship SSV Corwith Cramer to Arrive in Woods Hole May 30

WOODS HOLE – Sea Education Association’s oceanographic research vessel SSV Corwith Cramer will arrive in Woods Hole on Tuesday, May 30 after completing a five-week expedition from Nassau, Bahamas.

The ship will arrive at the WHOI dock, Iselin East, at about 8 a.m.

An Open Ship event is scheduled for Saturday, June 3, from 3–5 pm, at Dyers Dock, Woods Hole.

The public is invited to tour the ship and meet the crew.

Also on Saturday from 1:30 to 3 pm, Sea Education Association (SEA) will host an Admissions Open House on its campus for those interested in learning more about the organization’s high school and undergraduate programs.

SSV Corwith Cramer is a 134-foot brigantine and state-of- the-art sailing school vessel.

The senior flagship of SEA Semester, a study abroad program run by Sea Education Association, it was launched in 1987 in Bilbao, Spain and is one of two tall ship ocean research vessels owned and operated by SEA.

SEA is an internationally recognized leader in undergraduate ocean education.

For more than 45 years and over one million nautical miles sailed, SEA has educated students about the world’s oceans through its Boston University accredited study abroad program, SEA Semester.

In 2016, SEA was honored with the National Science Board’s Public Service Award for its role in promoting the public understanding of science and engineering.
