WEST DENNIS – The fall season kicks off on a high note in Dennis as the Dennis Chamber of Commerce will host the Taste of Dennis and Silent Auction.
The event will be held on Thursday, October 8 from 6 to 9 in the evening at the West Dennis Yacht Club on Loring Avenue.
The Taste of Dennis celebrated the finest food the town has to offer along with raising money with the auction and special raffle.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Holly Young Lifeguard Scholarship Fund.
The scholarship was established in Holly Young’s name to fully reimburse lifeguards after they have completed classes, try out and are hired by lifeguards by the town.
The total costs per lifeguard are about $425.
Holly Young was a Dennis lifeguard and a 2004 graduate of Dennis/Yarmouth Regional High School who died from cancer after a three-year battle at the age of 22.
Three full lifeguard scholarships were awarded this year.
The Taste of Dennis event is $30 per person and $300 for a table of 10.
Some of the restaurants participating are Scargo Café, Chapins Restaurant, Clancy’s Restaurant, Kream ‘n’ Kone, Aunties Ice Cream Parlor and Underground Bakery.
