Tea From East India Co. to be Dumped in Boston Reenactment

BOSTON MAPBOSTON (AP) — British tea will get a dunking in Boston Harbor for the first time in 242 years when the historic Boston Tea Party is re-enacted this week.

London’s East India Company shipped the tea dumped in protest by the American colonists on December 16th, 1773. That same company will be sending 100 pounds of tea for Wednesday’s reenactment.

Historians agree that the original Boston Tea Party was the single most important event leading up to the Revolutionary War and eventual independence from England.

It’s ceremonially re-enacted every year. The use of tea from London will give Wednesday night’s edition a new twist.

Organizers say the public is invited to line the shores and watch as actors playing the Sons of Liberty dump the tea.
