Teachers Support Cyr

Julian Cyr

TRURO – The American Federation of Teachers Massachusetts and the Boston Teachers Union have thrown their support behind State Senator Julian Cyr as he campaigns for re-election.

“Senator Cyr has always been there for us, whether it is support for fully funding our schools or our right to organize and promote safe schools and safer communities,” said Beth Kontos, President of the American Federation of Teachers Massachusetts. “We are proud to endorse Senator Cyr and the work he has done for his district.”

“The Boston Teachers Union is proud to endorse Julian Cyr for State Senate for the Cape and Islands District,” said Jessica Tang, President of BTU. “He is a staunch supporter of public education and is committed to working closely with public school teachers and families to improve our schools. Senator Cyr continues to be an advocate for students, a voice for educators, and a fighter for a better society for all.”

Cyr continued: “I am proud to have stood up for public education in my first term, and will continue to work with my partners in our public schools and the delegation to invest in critical resources for our teachers, students, and families.”

Earlier this year Cyr also received the support of Massachusetts teachers Association.

“It means a lot to me to have the backing of teachers across the Cape & Islands as I seek a second term,” said Senator Cyr. “I got my start in politics organizing to convince voters to close a budget gap in the Nauset Schools. I would not have succeeded in that effort — and since — without the encouragement of the educators who believed in and invested in me.”

Cyr is facing a challenge from Republican Flores, a member of the Barnstable Town Council.
