HYANNIS – The Cape Cod Organization dedicated to conserving local waters received recognition recently from the Cape Cod Commission.
Three Bays Preservation received the inaugural One Cape Award for its outstanding leadership and dedication to water quality on Cape Cod.
The organization received the award at last month’s two-day One Cape Summit in Hyannis which focused on the implementation of the 208 plan update to improve water quality on the Cape.
The event was attended by local, state and federal regulators, lawmakers, decision-makers, environmental non-profits and members of the public who are dedicated to finding solutions to restoring impaired freshwater and marine environments.
Cape Cod Commission Executive Director Paul Niedzwiecki says Three Bays Preservation has been raising the flag on embayment water quality for 20 years, along with educating its members and the community.
President of the Board of Directors at Three Bays Michael Egan says they will continue to advocate for nitrogen prevention and removal.
Since 1996 the organization has worked to restore and protect West, North and Cotuit Bays, and the coves, ponds, rivers, and streams that form the watershed and ecosystems.
