Three Cape Cod Towns Launch Cloud-Based Platform to Increase Transparency

BARNSTABLE COUNTY – In collaboration with the Cape Cod Commission’s Strategic Information Office, Falmouth, Provincetown, and Yarmouth have launched a cloud-based platform which aims to increase transparency and ease of access to public information.

The platform, which is powered by OpenGov’s Smart Government Cloud, will help these towns with budget planning, internal data management, and break down complex documents so they’re easily understandable for elected officials and residents alike.

“It takes complex information that’s often found in budgets and makes them a lot more easily understood by average citizens, and by decision makers, and by people that really want financial data and financial transparency in their community,” said Kristy Senatori, Deputy Director for the Cape Cod Commission.

Residents from these three towns will now be able to download data to review, and share over email and social media.

Along with transparency, the platform will also increase efficiency as well.

“We’re hoping that this is going to increase the community’s transparency, but also help them be more efficient in their budgeting process, so decision makers, town officials, department heads can use the platform to assist with their budgeting,” Senatori said.

Several other Cape town are expected to launch the platform sometime this fall.
