Three New Exhibits to Open at Cotuit Center for the Arts

Cotuit Center for the ArtsCOTUIT – The Cotuit Center for the Arts is presenting 3 new exhibits starting in June and will include non-objective art, mixed media and sculpture.

The exhibits will run from June 4th through July 17th.

“Related Visions” is an exhibit that features three artists: Carol White Odell, her husband Tom Odell and her brother John Howell White.

All three are dedicated to art that is totally invented and not related to anything from the natural world.

“Tidelands,” by Joan Benotti, is a series of mixed-media pieces that integrate memory and story with pattern and place. She incorporates a variety of materials into her work which is cut, ripped, patched, sewn, painted, beaded, gilded and hinged, so that the pieces open and close to alter their view.

And Gillian Christy’s “Tide of Time” transforms sheet metal into organic and warm pieces of art.

Her interior pieces range from plants and flowers, to mountains and the seashore, along with man-made and abstract objects and experiences. She uses stainless steel, bronze, copper, brass, gold leaf, silver leaf and other materials.

An artist talk will be followed by an opening reception for the three exhibits on Saturday, June 4th beginning at 5 p.m.
