BARNSTABLE – Proposals for the 2018 Community Development Block Grant Program are now being accepted by the Town of Barnstable.
The Department of Housing and Urban Development funds the grants that are used to provide affordable housing, a suitable living environment and economic opportunities to people with low and moderate incomes.
Suggested projects must have at least one of the many goals laid out in the Five Year Consolidated Plan of 2015. These include the creation of affordable housing and economic opportunities, improvements to the services offered to low income and special needs residents, including the homeless population, and more.
The plan also includes the goals of the Downtown Hyannis Neighborhood Revitalization Strategy Area. Proposed Projects with one or more of these may be given preference.
Total funding available is estimated to be just under $300,000.
Letters of interest must be sent to the Barnstable Planning and Development Department and received by the 28th.
