Town of Barnstable Conducting Hyannis Parking Study

KA_Hyannis_Main Street_11315 (1)HYANNIS – A study of parking in and around downtown Hyannis in currently underway.

An internal working group comprised of Growth Management, Consumer Affairs, and Regulatory Services staff met with a consultant last week.

They reviewed the analysis of the downtown Hyannis parking system and looked at strategies they have put together.

“It’s a continued effort to manage parking in a way that allows for people to come to our commercial area here in Barnstable and in Hyannis,” said Barnstable Town Manager Mark Ells.

An open house to gather input from residents and share plans will be held in the Town Hall Hearing Room on November 30 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The open house will include a presentation and an opportunity to share comments.

“There’s been a lot of parking studies in Hyannis,” said Ells. “One of the goals of this is to give us a working document that everybody can utilize so when we’re thinking about where we need to be citing parking, that will give us some guidance.”

Final recommendations and an implementation strategy are expected by the end of the year.
