Towns Across Cape Cod Hold Spring Elections

Yarmouth voters re-elected Tracy Post to the Board of Selectmen Tuesday

YARMOUTH – Voters in more than half of the Cape’s towns went to the ballot box Tuesday to make decisions in various contested races and decide on several ballot questions.

In Yarmouth, incumbent selectmen Tracy Post and Michael Stone were re-elected, defeating challenger Joe Glynn.

For Dennis-Yarmouth Regional School Committee, incumbent Phillip Morris lost to newcomer Brian Sullivan.

In a separate school committee race, Michelle Conover defeated Glynn, who ran for both seats, and two write-in candidates.

Orleans voters tossed incumbent selectman Jon Fuller from office, electing Mark Mathison. They returned Alan McClennen to the board.

Residents overwhelming approved a tax override for an $11.5 million police station project. Orleans voters also approved seven capital spending items and various charter changes.

In Falmouth’s five-way race for selectmen, Megan English Braga and Ralph Herbst were elected, defeating Marc Finneran, William Dynan and Sheila Travers.

For Falmouth school committee, incumbents Leah Palmer and Melissa Keefe were re-elected. William Rider won a third available seat.

Harwich voters re-elected selectman Michael MacAskill. Julie Cavanaugh won the second available seat, defeating incumbent Linda Cebula and Robert Rocco.

A $7 million tax override to repair Saquatucket Harbor was overwhelmingly approved.

Mashpee voters re-elected school committee member Don Myers in a three-way race. Selectman Carol Sherman held off a write-in challenge from Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe member Patricia Keli’inui.

In Bourne, incumbent Planning Board member Christopher Farrell lost to challenger William Grant.

Two vacant seats on the Brewster Board of Selectmen were filled by David Whitney and Cynthia Bingham.

In Eastham, selectmen John Knight and Wally Adams were re-elected, defeating Aimee Eckman and Michael Guzowski.
