Motorcycle Operator Critically Injured in Centerville Crash

CENTERVILLE –  A 51-year-old Dennis woman suffered life-threatening injuries Friday morning in a crash in Centerville involving the motorcycle she was operating and a car.

Barnstable Police Sgt. Sean Sweeney said the accident happened on Phinney’s Lane in the vicinity of Longview Drive shortly after 7:30.

Kathy LaCross suffered a traumatic leg injury and was taken to Cape Cod Hospital. The driver of the car, identified as Peter Reiss, 43, of Dennis, was also transported.

Initial reports from investigators indicate LaCross was heading towards Route 132 on Phinney’s Lane when Reiss, coming in the opposition direction in his 1992 Saab, crossed the the center line, colliding with the motorcycle.

Phinney’s Lane in that area was closed for just under an hour while rescue crews responded.

Reiss has been cited by Barnstable police with several motor vehicle violations.
