Train Derailment Drill Planned In Barnstable Village

KA_Barnstable Village_Cultural District_016BARNSTABLE – A number of public safety agencies will join the MBTA for a train derailment drill Saturday in Barnstable village.

Crews will simulate a large-scale passenger train derailment on the tracks behind the Barnstable County Court House from 10 am to noon. Neighbors can expect activity in the area as early at 8 am.

Officials say the goal of the drill is to test their emergency response plan and put it into action in a controlled environment.

About 80 volunteers will take part in the exercise.
