ORLEANS – A presentation on the history and current state of trains on Cape Cod will take place at the Orleans Historical Society on Sunday, February 19th at 2 p.m.
Two members of the Nauset Model Railroad Club will discuss when and how railroads in the regioin were built and expanded, how they operated, and what it was like to ride them in the late 1800s.
Topics such as the Jenny Lind tower, the canal railroad bridge and the “dude train” will all be discussed, along with why ridership declined in the new century.
Admission to the event is free and no pre-registration is required.
