Transportation Officials Seek Input on Proposed South Coast Rail Designs

MassDOTBOSTON – MassDOT and the MBTA are working on a proposal to restore passenger rail service between Boston and the South Coast and are seeking input from residents.

A series of public meetings next month will be held to provide an update, discuss next steps and gather feedback.

Designers are considering a new connection making use of the existing MBTA Stoughton Commuter Rail Line. Design work for this route is about 15 percent complete.

Officials are also considering an alternate route that could potentially be designed and constructed more quickly than the Stoughton route.
