CHATHAM – A Chatham man was taken to Cape Cod Hospital yesterday afternoon after an oak tree fell on him.
Chatham fire crews responded to 336 Stage Island Road just before 1:30 and found the 68-year-old trapped.
The man was using a chainsaw to cut down the large oak tree alone.
Chatham Fire Captain David Depasquale said the man had been trapped for about 2 hours before being discovered.
Fire crews used airbags to lift the tree off of the victim.
Depasquale said the tree measured roughly 18 inches across and described the injuries as non life-threatening.
