Trouble Again on Steamship Boat

Steamship Authority photo: Ferry Woods Hole

HYANNIS – The Steamship ferry Woods Hole was sidelined this morning for a couple of trips between Hyannis and Nantucket due to mechanical issues.

This is the latest problem for the Authority, which has been plagued with mechanical issues on its boats, mostly those that travel between Woods Hole and the Vineyard.

The Authority has had to cancel hundreds of trips so far this year.

Today’s problem comes after a weekend fire destroyed a Steamship bus that caught fire on Saturday at the agency’s parking lot on Palmer Avenue in Falmouth.

The bus was a total loss and fourteen passenger vehicles were damaged as well.
