Trudeau to Address Gun Issues, Court System

HYANNIS -The Cape and Islands District Attorney’s office First Assistant D.A. will be the featured speaker at an event next month hosted by Grandmothers Against Gun Violence.

Michael Trudeau will discuss the court process in offenses where firearms are involved, whether the disposition of the firearm depends on the type of crime, how it impacts future purchasing and carrying decisions regarding firearms and how much weight a firearm carries in sentencing decisions.

He will also discuss the trial process and issues like plea bargaining and the disposition of guns confiscated by law enforcement.

Trudeau has been a First Assistant since 2002.

The public is invited to attend, the discussion will be held on May 1st at Cape Cod Synagogue in Hyannis, it is scheduled for 10:30 am.
