WASHINGTON (AP) – Despite their differences, Donald Trump and House Speaker Paul Ryan are promising to work together as Trump prepares for the general election campaign.

After a meeting with Trump today, Ryan still stopped short of a full-throated endorsement of Trump — but he appeared to be closer to issuing one.

A joint statement said that they had recognized “many important areas of common ground” as well as areas in which they disagree.
