TRURO -Truro Town meeting voters approved a $5.1 million purchase of 70 acres of privately owned land off Route 6 last night with very little opposition.
The money, which would come through loans and a debt exclusion, still needs approval at town election scheduled for May 14th. Residents also approved Community Preservation Act funds for various projects, including $40,000 for design of the municipal Cloverleaf property in North Truro, $125,000 for restoration at Edgewood Farm and $204,00 for work at the Highland House Museum.
Voters also voted to petition the state for a home rule exemption to allow for the imposition of a rental real estate transfer fee with proceeds going toward affordable housing and a stabilization fund.
