Truro Center for Arts to Host ‘NYC Comes to Truro!’ Through July

TRURO – The Truro Center for the Arts at Castle Hill is hosting a show featuring the work of Marina Ancona, Larry Horowitz, Sarah Lutz and Amy Mahnick on Sunday that will run through July 5.

NYC COMES TO TRURO will be held at the Castle Hill Main Gallery.

The show brings together work in printmaking and painting, with an eye to color.

“All the artists work in color in different and exciting ways” says curator and Executive Artistic Director Cherie Mittenthal.

The Opening Reception is June 27 at 10 Meetinghouse Road in Truro from 4:00 p.m. through 6:00 p.m.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS:

Marina Ancona is the founder of 10 Grand Press, an independent fine art press in Brooklyn and Santa Fe, NM. Ancona’s publishing projects have been exhibited at MoMA, Queens Museum, Kunsthalle Basel and in the collections of MoMA, Metropolitan Museum among others. She has collaborated with artists including Nicole Eisenman, Carrie Moyer and Ulrike Muller. She is teaching a Printmaking workshop at Castle Hill this week called Experiments with Layers and Plates.

Larry Horowitz is an American landscape painter who graduated from SUNY Purchase and immediately won the prestigious and coveted position as apprentice to Wolf Kahn. Larry Horowitz currently shows in galleries across the United States and in Canada. His work is in many major corporate and private collections. He has been selected to participate in the Arts-In-Embassies program in the United States Embassies in Finland and Russia.  Through his art, Horowitz strives to depict America’s vanishing landscape. Larry has been teaching at Castle Hill for the past 5 years and is an exceptional teacher.

Amy Mahnick received her BFA from Michigan State University, and her MFA from The New York Academy of Art. She has exhibited in the US and abroad, with her most recent show, “Through The Vessel,” at the Painting Center, NYC. She is one of eleven women interviewed in the short film: “Women Painting.” This is her first time teaching this summer at Castle Hill.

Sarah Lutz holds a B.S. in Studio Art from Skidmore College and an M.F.A. from The American University.  Her paintings and prints have been exhibited widely, including solo and group exhibitions at The Schoolhouse Gallery, Provincetown, MA, The Richmond Art Center, Windsor, CT, INK Miami, the E/AB Fair, The Tang Teaching Museum and Art Galleries at Skidmore College and

The Painting Center, Lohin Geduld Gallery and Lori Bookstein Fine Art in New York. Sarah has been involved in Castle Hill for over 30 year from a student to also being involved on the Castle Hill Board of Directors.
