Truro Holds Special Election Today for Open Select Board Seat

TRURO – The Town of Truro is holding a special election today to fill the vacant Select Board seat of the late Maureen Burgess.

Burgess died in November and the Board decided in December to hold the special election after concerns about the potential for split votes.

The Select Board also believed that the 52 days in office would give someone a chance to get to know the position, before committing to a full term.

Karen Tosh and Stephanie Rein are running for the seat, where the winner will hold the position until the May 12 general election.

Tosh is the vice chairwoman of the Planning Board and Rein is a member of the Cable and Internet Advisory Committee.
