Truro Planning Board to Address Campground Issue

TRURO – Representatives for Horton’s Campground in Truro go before the town planning board tonight after the National Seashore let their permit lapse last month in response to apparent zoning violations on the property.

The company cleared land on the campground last year for sewer work. The town said that work was in violation of zoning rules and issued a stop work order.

Tonight’s meeting is set for 6 p.m. An appeal of the stop work order will be discussed at a meeting of the Truro Zoning Board of Appeals on January 23.

The revocation of the permit from the National Seashore does not prevent the campground from operating, but could affect the company’s chances of getting mortgages on the property, loans, or insurance.
