TRURO – Truro, which has been without a permanent police chief since the end of June, is continuing with the decision making process.
The nine member police chief search committee acquired its final four members last week, having been chosen by the board of selectmen. Already on the committee are two selectmen, the town manager as well as a police sergeant and dispatcher.
John Dundas, who was accepted, put forth his qualifications. “I love my town. I’ve had an opportunity to participate on boards and meetings. From my previous life in the military, I have a special appreciation for law enforcement safety.”
Also selected was Amy Rogers, a Truro native, who was also chosen after her presentation. “I’m born and raised here. I was part of the vision committee and I just want to follow this to the end. I’m a member of the commission on disabilities, and a member of the Truro Police K-9 association.”
Lieutenant Craig Danziger has been acting as interim chief.
In the Cape’s most rural and smallest town, the former chief made $133,000 with benefits.
Recruitment for the position is scheduled to start during the next few weeks.
