Truro Special Town Meeting Tonight

TRURO – Truro voters will consider zoning for marijuana growing endeavors and restriction on the size of homes at special town meeting tonight. Farmers in town plan to grow marijuana since recreational and medical marijuana use has been legalized.

The Truro Planning Board says the farms need to have regulatory oversight and adhere to certain requirements saying that the effect of the operations could cause issues involving odor, traffic and noise that could detrimentally affect nearby property values.

In article 6, residents will be asked to limit the size of new residential construction in town. A proposed by law includes requirements that would allow 3,600 square foot homes on a minimum lot of .775 acres, and additional 1,000 square feet could be added by the zoning board of appeals.

The Special Town meeting will be held at the Truro Central School at 6 tonight.
