Truro Town Meeting Alters Zoning Bylaws, Approves Spending Proposals

TRURO – Voters in Truro approved a number of spending items at Town Meeting this week, sending the plans to the ballot box for final approval.

Reisdents will now vote on $150,000 in repairs for roof and skylights at the library, $100,000 to rebuild the swap shop at the Truro transfer station, and $350,000 for a new firefighting vehicle.

Town election is May 8.

In other action at town meeting, voters approved zoning amendments that will allow existing condos in town to be used year-round. There are roughly 500 units that can only be used from March to November under the current regulations.

Residents approved a 3 percent local tax on marijuana sales, but postponed a decision on marijuana-related zoning bylaws.

Voters also passed a $19.4 million budget.
