Truro Voters Approve Full-Time Fire Department, Re-Elect Selectmen

_KA_Truro_Winter_Police_16_121015TRURO -Voters in yesterday’s election in Truro chose to establish the first full-time fire department in the town’s history.

Residents approved $241,000 in property and real estate tax increases to fund the hiring of 6 full-time firefighters. The department plans to move full-time in July.

In a second proposition two and a half funding question, voters approved $120,000 in funding for repairs at East Harbor in North Truro.

Incumbent selectmen Paul Wisotzky and Robert Weinstein were returned to office, beating a challenge from Paul Kiernan.

Residents also approved nine ballot questions associated with the town’s charter. Most of the questions pertained to the authority of town officials.
