Forcasters Predict Worse Traffic Than Usual for Turkey Day

trafficBARNSTABLE –  The Automobile Association of America (AAA) Southern New England is expecting very busy roadways as Thanksgiving approaches.

Nationally, about 46 million people will travel more than 50 miles from home for the holiday with about 41 million of those traveling by car.

According to AAA’s Dave Raposa, that’s about a four percent increase over last year.

Locally there are increasing travel numbers as well, said Raposa.

“We see that for the first time in  several years that over a million residents from Massachusetts are going to be among the travelers. So that’s testimony to the fact that people are feeling better about the economy and their ability to travel,” he said.

Given the stormy weather forecast, Raposa said to leave plenty of extra time if you’ll be traveling the next couple of days.
