AMHERST, Mass. (AP) – A top Twitter executive who dropped out of the University

of Massachusetts Amherst to pursue a career as a high tech entrepreneur has been selected to deliver the

keynote address at the school’s commencement.

Wayne Chang, director of product strategy at Twitter, will also receive an honorary doctorate at the May 6 ceremony when about 5,500 students are expected to receive bachelor’s degrees.

Chang joined Twitter in 2013 after it bought Crashlytics, a mobile crash-reporting service Chang co-founded in 2011, for a reported price of more than $100 million.

He is a native of Taiwan who wrote his first software program at age 7. He attended high school in Haverhill before enrolling in UMass. While a student there in 2003, created i2hub, an early competitor to Facebook.
