FALMOUTH – Two men have been arrested in the course of the investigation into the stabbing death of a 60-year-old Indian man outside the Golden Swan Indian Restaurant in Falmouth on Thursday night, according to a statement issued by Cape and Islands District Attorney Michael O’Keefe and Falmouth Police Chief Edward Dunne.

Salwinder Singh, 60, and Karamjit Singh, 23, were arrested and charged with intentionally misleading a police investigation.

Falmouth police and state police detectives assigned to the Cape & Islands District Attorney’s Office worked through the night on the case before making the arrest, according to the release.

Police say the deceased and both men are affiliated with The Golden Swan Restaurant.

He would not say if they work at the restaurant, but he did say that the deceased was not a patron of the restaurant when the death occurred.

Both men are being held without bail pending their arraignment at Falmouth District Court on Monday, September 8.

The crime is a felony that carries a 10-year sentence if convicted.

Police gave the restaurant’s address as the address for both men. He said the deceased man was a temporary resident of Falmouth.

Police are still not releasing the name of the man who died, pending notification of his next of kin.

Falmouth police responded to the call at approximately 9 p.m. to an alleyway off Shore Street behind the restaurant. O’Keefe said the man was transported to Falmouth Hospital where he was declared dead.

An autopsy was conducted in Boston at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. The victim died from blood loss associated with a cutting wound caused by sharp force trauma.

The case remains under investigation by Falmouth Police and State Police Detectives assigned to the Cape and Islands District Attorney’s Office.

O’Keefe would not say whether the two men are suspects in the crime, nor would he categorize the crime as a murder at this time.
