YARMOUTH – Two companies are now eligible to solicit door-to-door in Yarmouth after registering with Yarmouth Police.
Dennis based Solar Energy Systems and Renewal Windows by Anderson of Lincoln, Rhode Island can send representatives door-to-door after recently being approved by officials.
Yarmouth by-laws require companies to register with officials before solicitation at homes. Companies are required to get permits from police, pay a fee to the town, and subject all sales representatives to background checks.
Residents can sign up for a no-solicitation list, which prevents salesmen from soliciting on private property.
Yarmouth is one of a handful of towns in Massachusetts with regulations on door-to-door salesmen.
