Two Groups May Purchase Public Conservation Areas in Falmouth

Falmouth Woods Hole - PenzanceFALMOUTH – The 300 Committee and the Buzzards Bay Coalition plan to purchase two conservation areas in Falmouth.

The areas, located on Sippewissett Road, would connect the 387-acre Beebe Woods and the 28-acre Flume Pond area, creating 505 acres of protected open space.

The groups plan on adding a parking lot on one of the parcels, so visitors can park on the property and visit the land.

The 300 Committee is asking Falmouth’s Community Preservation Committee to recommend Town Meeting approve a $90,000 grant to pay for a conservation restriction to be held by the Falmouth Conservation Commission.

The purchase is expected to be completed by March 2016.
