DYESS AIR FORCE BASE, Texas (AP) — The Defense Department says two of the six American airmen killed when a U.S. Air Force military transport plane crashed in Afghanistan were based at Hanscom Air Force Base in Massachusetts.
They were identified as Senior Airman Nathan Sartain, 29, of Pensacola, Florida; and Airman 1st Class Kcey Ruiz, 21, of McDonough, Georgia.
The cause of the early Friday crash, which also killed five civilians passengers and an unknown number of individuals on the ground, remains under investigation.
