WELLFLEET – Two police vehicles were struck by a car driven by an alleged drunk driver last night in Wellfleet.

Two Wellfleet officers were conducting a field sobriety test on the driver of a Toyota Sienna pulled over just before midnight on Route 6 when a Hyundai sedan hit the two police cars and rolled over.

Juan Fontanez, 33, of Providence, faces charges of operating under the influence of alcohol, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and marked lanes violation.

Two people in the Hyundai suffered injuries and were taken to Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis.

The driver of the stopped vehicle, Kelley Tripp, 46, of West Roxbury was also charged with drunk driving, child endangerment while operating under the influence of alcohol, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and marked lanes violation.

Route 6 near the 1600 block was closed for about three hours as the Cape Cod Regional Traffic Reconstruction Team investigated the crash.
Wellfleet police were joined at the scene by officers from Eastham, Truro and Provincetown, and the Barnstable County Sheriff’s office assisted with photos.
