Coast Guard Change-Of-Command Ceremony for Sector Southeastern New England

SANDWICH- The United States Coast Guard ‘Sector Southeastern New England’ underwent a change in leadership Thursday as Capt. Christian Glander relieved Capt. Richard Schultz as Commander.

Capt. Schultz said he is incredibly grateful to have served with his fellow mariners over the past four years and that he, and his team, has had many successes.

“We accomplished a lot everything from significant search and rescue cases, to aids to navigation, optimization across the area, to active threat concept of operations, active shooter potentials on passenger vessels, to really everything in between,” he said.

Incoming Capt. Glander said that he is very excited to assume this new command and to make Southeastern Mass his family’s new home.

“This is our absolute favorite part of the world, without a doubt. We spend a lot of time here as a family and the Coast Guard has been very good to me in that I have been able to get up here, and patrol these waters out at sea. Now I will get the chance to it from shore overseeing a lot of what goes on out there on the waters,” he said.

Over 200 people both sworn and civilian attended the ceremony on the grass field in front of Coast Guard Station Cape Cod in Sandwich.

As for Captain Schultz, he now moves on to become a Coast Guard District Supervisor in Boston.
