BARNSTABLE – The popular ride sharing service Uber is over a month into their new summer service on the Cape and Islands, but it’s unclear if Uber will be available after the summer is over.

“Our plan is to connect people with safe, reliable rides through the summer and beyond,” said Uber spokesman Frederic Wolens. But he did not provide any additional details on the company’s future plans.

“We launched on the Cape & Islands because we’ve heard for years from residents and visitors that Uber would be a perfect fit for the area,” Wolens added.

The company expanded their service to Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard, and Nantucket this summer, starting with Memorial Day weekend. The move came as the company expanded service to a variety of summer destinations on the East Coast.
